13 Sep About Me
My name is Philippa Wilkin and I’m a transformational coach, corporate escapee, and life explorer but that wasn’t always the case. My life has completely transformed over the past few years. I discovered that my true passion lies in helping people, to get free from emotional baggage, to rediscover their authentic voice and to empower them to find and experience their greatest potential.
In the not so distant past I was a dedicated and successful insurance executive in London. I loved my team and had a great job. But something was missing. I’d been on my own personal development journey for a while and after returning from a holiday in Brazil, had an idea that I should move abroad. I know, crazy right? I’m a pretty rational person, but the idea wouldn’t go away so I decided to follow my intuition for a change.
Why? I was also asking myself that same question! I’d been toying with the idea of doing something different for a quite a while. I joined the city straight from university and spent the next twelve years working like crazy and gaining status and credibility in my field. For my age, I’d reached the coveted career high bar. With that came plenty of stress, feeling numbed out to my emotions, fatigue and never enough hours in the day. Always rushing somewhere, never quite feeling your work was up to scratch. I had everything I could have wanted, but something wasn’t quite right. I didn’t feel that the hours spent, emails written, or meetings I held were making a real impact in the world. I felt stuck, but intuitively knew that the world contained so much potential.
After a lot of soul searching I realised that my job wasn’t giving me the purpose and passion I’d subconsciously craved. I knew deep down that I possessed something greater to bring to the world. The time had finally come to do something about it, and I resigned. As scary as it was, I’m proud to say it’s one of my best decisions and I haven’t looked back since.
At that point I had already discovered Transformational Breath ® at a workshop but hadn’t planned to have a career teaching it! I was fascinated by the simple yet powerful tool of using breath to change our life and take charge of our own wellbeing. I subsequently went on to take a 6 day training course in the UK and I was amazed by the profound changes I personally experienced during and after sessions, resolving issues from the past that until that point, I’d been stuck with.
It turns out I’d been living in a small little box for a while. A uniform, boring, beige box where it didn’t feel OK to be me, to say what I thought or wanted, or to express who I truly was. Nothing against boxes, but I realised it hadn’t been working for me. It’s no secret that I’ve been on my own personal journey over the years, finding and experimenting with many useful techniques and practices along the way, all of which have positively affected my life in the process. However, I knew that this technique was extra special as it was helping to set me free, in new and powerful ways. The more I practiced, the more I wanted to learn about breathing. So I set forth to California to take the facilitator training with Dr Judith Kravitz, the founder of Transformational Breath ® and the rest as they say, is history.
I hadn’t planned this new career path, but it turns out that life has a way of making sure you end up where you need to be. I have discovered a new found faith in this process, whereas the old me would have been trying to control everything and everything. Let’s just say that ‘letting go’ wasn’t in my vocabulary a few years back!
Breathwork has brought me numerous gifts and continues to help me in many ways, a few of which I’d love to share with you. Most importantly Transformational Breath ® helped me to rediscover and connect with who I am inside, trust my intuition and find my authentic voice. It helped me to feel comfortable to express who I am, what I need and choose how I show up in the world. It helped me to believe in myself and empowered me to make choices for my own wellbeing. It helped me to love and forgive myself, and to do the same with others. In summary it has radically improved all aspects of my life, and will continue to do so for many years to come.
If I hadn’t listened to my intuition and ‘let go’, taking a risk in the process by leaving my safe traditional job, I probably wouldn’t have found Transformational Breath ®. Furthermore I wouldn’t be sharing this with you today, feeling lighter, happier, fulfilled, and having the opportunity to live with passion and purpose every day. I also get to experience my love of travel, especially to Brazil which has definitely captured a place in my heart. I now split my time between this wonderful country and the UK, and other places around the world when I get the chance.
I’m incredibly grateful to have discovered such a potent tool for self realisation and it’s now my mission to share the positive benefits with the world, or anyone who will listen for that matter! The good news is I’m not alone, as Transformational Breath ® is one of the fastest growing breathwork schools on the planet, having touched 42 countries and been translated into 10 languages. Breathing offers a complete self-healing system to facilitate improved wellbeing, inner peace and greater joy in life and the world is finally waking up to it. What’s not to love about that?
I personally believe that one most powerful tools available to us today is the conscious diaphragmatic breathing technique offered by Transformational Breath ®, providing all round physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. I truly believe that the greatest gift you can give yourself is to experience the beauty of your own breath. It’s natural, safe and lucky for us we all have the ability to breathe. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.
We are all individuals on our journey through life, but by sharing my story with you, I hope you’ve gained an insight into how the technique can help you find and experience your greatest potential. The power is within you, it’s been patiently waiting for you to discover it!
My advice? Take the leap. You won’t be disappointed.
