I’m not sure if you’ve realised yet, but trying to control the world around you right now is like attempting to wrestle a greased up pig. No matter how much you twist and turn there’s just no way of pinning that slippery sucker down, and just when you think you made it, you’re face down in the mud and feeling rather frustrated.
All that effort, blood, sweat and tears and you’re being defied by a farm animal. It’s quite the spectacle don’t you think?
Here’s a revolutionary thought for you. How about - you just let the pig be the pig?
Doing all it’s regular piggy business. You know… rooting for truffles and turning once green fields into mud baths. That’s what the pig likes, and it’s what he’s here to do. Trying to get the pig to follow orders, write an email or cook you dinner is going to be a futile effort don’t you think?
With this in mind….Since when did you declare yourself a pig wrangler? Talk about setting yourself up for failure!
Who's the boss?
The same is true when it comes to life. The vast majority of us have been conditioned to attempt to control life. There are certain expectations we create, of how things SHOULD be. And guess what?
Life shows us who’s boss.
Newsflash! You don’t get to force your puny human will on nature. She’ll show you who’s in charge here. Just like that slippery pig did.
YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME HUMAN!
Go and try your manipulation and control tactics elsewhere!
And the truth is unwittingly you already are. Probably in most areas of your life (Let’s be honest, more likely ALL areas). It’s what we have been taught to do.
Order. Control. Logic. Understanding. Manipulation
Humans like to put things in boxes in order to understand. It gives us the feeling of safety, and when we feel safe, we know where we are. It’s a form of self-soothing and it feels comforting because we know where we stand. Yet it is all an ILLUSION.
What do you truly believe?
The vast majority of what you know to be true is just because you BELIEVED it to be true. You consumed the story, confirmed your own inner narrative relative to it, and programmed it into your subconscious. Just like that. No more effort required.
This is great on one level. Who wants to have to remember how to walk each time we get up? Lucky that you installed that programme at two years old and don’t have to read your operating manual every day, huh! That would be annoying! And yet there are many programmes you installed long ago in your subconscious (whether consciously or more likely NOT) that do not serve you. Holding onto some of these is actually causing you more harm than good, and the most annoying part - you don’t even know they’re there.
Are you ready to look at things differently?
It’s like looking thought a pair of sunglasses, all your beliefs and programming will shape and tint your view of the world. And you know when your glasses get all smeared up and yucky? That’s what most of us have going on. We can’t see clearly, because there’s plenty of sh*t in the way. If your glasses are dirty, your view of the world is too. What you see on the outside, is actually a reflection of what you’re blissfully unaware of on the inside. The filthy glasses reflect back to you the unresolved emotional stuff you’ve been carrying around your whole life.
Remember that slippery pig? That’s your emotional baggage that is attempting to break free and resolve itself. It’s just that you’re so focused on controlling the pig that it can’t do its thing. It can’t be fully whole and free. The same goes for you. Whilst you’re fighting a war within yourself you cannot realise inner peace. The outer world is a reflection of the inner world.
And guess what, the only way you’ll change what you see, is by going WITHIN and changing what you feel and believe. Your perception is the reality you see in the world. The beauty of life is that it WILL bring you the perfect situation required in order to resolve your emotional wounds. In fact, it’s doing it every single day. You’re just so busy trying to control life that you don’t see the opportunity.
It's time to free yourself
And the way I see it? You’re missing out. All the energy you’re utilising in avoiding facing your sh*t is draining you. It’s keeping your heart guarded and holding you back from showing up as the powerful revolutionary human that you know is inside of you. It’s keeping you stuck, frustrated and depressed. Whilst those are valid experiences, that’s not what life is about.
In the same way the pig gets to be free, SO DO YOU. And when you do?
Life will flow more, you’ll feel relaxed and at ease, trust and faith will show up, your energy will return, and if you really commit to facing your sh*t??
Then you’ll bring home the bacon ;)
Breathe the change you wish to see in the world.
